Alexandru I. Suciu is a Professor of Mathematics at Northeastern University, specializing in Topology and its intersections with Algebra, Geometry, and Combinatorics. He earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1984 and has been at Northeastern since 1986. His research focuses on cohomology jumping loci, hyperplane arrangements, Milnor fibrations, and configuration spaces, with applications to toric topology and low-dimensional topology.
Suciu has taught courses like Real Analysis, Topology, and Group Theory, emphasizing rigorous proofs and theoretical foundations. His work spans over 80 publications, including studies on resonance varieties, Chen ranks, and formality properties. He actively participates in international conferences and collaborates globally, with recent visits to institutions in Germany, France, and Japan. His research bridges algebraic and geometric topology, with contributions to the understanding of group extensions and homology.
