Alexandros Glykas

Dr. Alexandros Glykas is a Teaching Fellow at ALBA Graduate Business School, part of The American College of Greece. He holds a PhD in Ship Structures from the University of Glasgow and an M.Eng in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. His career spans maritime casualty investigations, ship management, and academia. He contributed to the IMO’s bulk carrier safety standards through his work on the M/V DERBYSHIRE Investigation (1997–2000) and later became an adjunct professor in Maritime Technology. Currently, he teaches Shipping Management and Maritime Technology at ALBA, supervising field projects that bridge academia and industry.

His research focuses on maritime technology, ship structures, and marine policy, particularly Ship-to-Ship transfer operations. He has authored scientific papers, co-authored textbooks for marine academies, and published works on international maritime policy. As Director of DYNAMARINe Co., he further advances maritime practices and standards.
