Alexandria Peary is a Professor of English at Salem State University, specializing in poetry, creative nonfiction, and mindful writing pedagogy. She holds a PhD from the University of New Hampshire, MFA degrees from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and a BA from Colby College. Her research focuses on creative writing history, writing anxiety, and composition theory.
Peary has directed Salem State's First-Year Writing Program (2011–2019) and currently teaches at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She is the author of six poetry collections, including Battle of Silicon Valley at Daybreak (2022) and The Water Draft (2019), as well as influential texts like Prolific Moment: Theory and Practice of Mindfulness for Writing (2018). Her work bridges literary history with contemporary practices, emphasizing mindfulness to address writing blocks.
