Alexandre Lambert

Alexandre Lambert, PhD, is an academic director and lecturer at SIT Study Abroad, leading programs in Switzerland focused on Global Health and Development Policy. He holds a PhD in international relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva. His roles include academic director for SIT's MA in Diplomacy and International Relations and teaching positions at the Geneva School of Diplomacy and Webster University, Geneva. Lambert has extensive experience as a civil servant in Swiss defense policy and as a lead researcher for the OSCE. He is affiliated with organizations like the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF) and the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society in Chicago.

His research focuses on international security, geopolitics of the Silk Road, civil-military relations, and OSCE policies. He frequently advises the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation on operations in conflict zones like the Western Balkans and Central Asia. Lambert is a member of the editorial board of Diplomatic Service, a Russian journal, and has published extensively on geopolitical analysis, including influential works on China’s Belt and Road Initiative and NATO enlargement dynamics.

Lambert’s work spans multiple languages (German, French, English, Russian) and includes landmark books such as Geopolitics of China’s New Silk Road (2021) and Belt-and-Road Initiative: Geopolitical and Geo-economic Aspects (2021). His recent articles analyze Indo-Pacific geopolitics, NATO’s post-Cold War evolution, and pandemic-era armed forces compliance with OSCE norms.
