Alexandra Verbovsek

Alexandra Verbovsek is a Professor of Archaeology and Cultural History of Northeast Africa: Material Culture at the Institute of Archaeology, Humboldt University of Berlin. Her work bridges Egyptology, classical archaeology, and cultural studies, focusing on temples, material culture, and theoretical frameworks.

• Research Interests: Middle Kingdom and New Kingdom archaeology, temples and palaces, material culture, Egyptological art studies, emotion research, and cultural-historical discourses.
• Current Projects: Qantir/Pi-Ramesse Project (faience architectural parts), Musawwarat es-Sufra Project, rebus statues analysis, and functional studies of Middle Kingdom temple artifacts.
• Academic Achievements: Authored monographs on private temple statues and Hyksos monuments; co-edited thematic volumes on Egyptological methodology and image studies.
• Scientific Awards: Feodor Lynen Fellowship (2008-2010), doctoral scholarships from the University of Hamburg and Johanna and Fritz Buch Foundation (1997-1999).
