Alexandra Schwell

Alexandra Schwell is a Professor for Empirical Cultural Studies at the Institute for Cultural Analysis, Alpen-Adria University of Klagenfurt. She serves as Head of the Institute, Head of the Department of Empirical Cultural Studies/Cultural Anthropology, and Member of the Working Group on Equal Treatment Issues. Her consultation hours are Wednesdays from 11:00 to 12:00, located in Space N.1.38 of the Main Building's North Wing.

Schwell's research focuses on the Anthropology of the Political, Border Studies, Emotion and affect, and European integration, utilizing Empirical methods to analyze institutions, bureaucracies, and cultural phenomena related to climate change, mobilities, and security. She has contributed to interdisciplinary projects examining European ethnology and risk research (ÖSTAT code 211914).

Her academic leadership includes editorial roles and collaborations with institutions like the University of Vienna, LMU Munich, and the Université de Montréal.
