Dr. Alexandra Reuber is a Senior Professor of Practice in French and the Academic Director of the summer program 'Tulane in Paris' at Tulane University's School of Liberal Arts. She joined the Department of French & Italian in 2006 and has held leadership roles, including Director of the French Language Program (2009–2014) and Director of Undergraduate Studies (2018–2019). She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Louisiana State University and advanced degrees in French and English literature from RWTH Aachen University and the Studienseminar Hagen.
Her research focuses on 19th-century literature, Gothic/Fantastic traditions, and second language acquisition. She explores themes like horror fiction adaptations, communicative language teaching, and service learning in foreign language education. She has published widely on topics such as Stephen King adaptations, Edgar Allan Poe's narratives, and intercultural pedagogy.
Teaching highlights include courses on French literature, language pedagogy, and folklore, such as Lost in the Dark: The Fantastic and Its Uncanny Manifestations and Service Learning in French Immersion. She also leads summer programs in Paris, blending academic rigor with cultural immersion.
Dr. Reuber’s work emphasizes bridging literature and pedagogy. Her recent publications address cultural identity through media and the integration of technology in language learning. She has been a CELT Teaching Fellow and contributes to teacher certification programs, advocating for innovative instructional strategies.
