Dr. Alexandra Meyer is a Research Fellow in the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on entangled environmental and social changes in Arctic and Northern communities, with a particular emphasis on climate change adaptation, permafrost thaw, and cultural heritage preservation. She holds a PhD from the University of Vienna (2024) and has conducted extensive fieldwork in Svalbard, Norway. Meyer actively contributes to interdisciplinary research initiatives such as the ILLUQ and InfraNorth projects, and serves as a board member of the Svalbard Social Science Initiative (SSSI) and Austria's representative to the International Arctic Science Committee's Social and Human Working Group (IASC).
Her work bridges academic research with societal engagement, employing participatory methods and co-creation approaches.
