Alexandra Cooperstock is a researcher at Brown University, affiliated with the Population Studies and Training Center. Her work focuses on racial/ethnic and class inequalities in neighborhoods and schools, examining how policy contexts influence these dynamics.
- Ph.D. in Sociology with a minor in Demography from Cornell University
- B.A. in Sociology and Women's Studies from the University of Michigan, Phi Beta Kappa
Her research spans social stratification, sociology of education, community and urban sociology, public policy, and social and spatial demography. She has secured funding from the Russell Sage Foundation, William T. Grant Foundation, American Educational Research Association, and National Science Foundation.
She has published in journals such as Social Forces, Research in Social Stratification and Mobility, Frontiers in Education, and City & Community, as well as in the Oxford Handbook of Family Policy. Her award-winning teaching experience includes positions in public and charter K-12 schools.
