Alexandra Callan

Dr. Alexandra Callan is a physician scientist and Director of Orthopaedic Oncology at UT Southwestern, specializing in sarcomas, metastatic bone disease, and musculoskeletal oncology. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams at UT Southwestern, Children’s Health, and Parkland Memorial Hospital to provide comprehensive care for bone and soft tissue tumors.

• Education: B.S. from University of Notre Dame, M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine
• Training: Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Orthopaedic Oncology Fellowship at MD Anderson

Her research focuses on surgical outcomes in sarcoma patients, minimally invasive techniques for metastatic bone disease, and multidisciplinary management of pediatric bone tumors. Publications highlight NSQIP database analyses, periacetabular procedures, and complications in spinal instrumentation.

Dr. Callan also contributes to clinical guidelines development and investigates resource utilization in trauma imaging. She is actively involved in teaching residents and medical students while leading the Sarcoma Program at UT Southwestern.

She works with multidisciplinary sarcoma teams across multiple institutions to optimize personalized patient care.
