Dr. Alexandra Brumberg is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Drexel University, where she leads the Brumberg Group. She is also an affiliated faculty member in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
- PhD in Chemistry, Northwestern University (2021)
- BS in ACS-certified Chemistry and Mathematics, Tufts University (2016)
- Postdoctoral training at UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara
Research Interests: The group focuses on understanding dynamic structural processes in inorganic materials, including phase transitions, self-assembly, and crystallization. Their work bridges structural changes with optoelectronic properties using in situ spectroscopy and ultrafast characterization techniques. Key areas include:
- Semiconductor nanoparticle nucleation and growth mechanisms
- Phase-dependent optoelectronic property modulation
- Stability challenges in perovskite materials for energy applications
- Structure-property relationships in low-dimensional inorganic systems
Recent Publications: The 15 most recent articles reveal trends in semiconductor nanocrystal photophysics, perovskite phase transitions, and structural control for optoelectronic efficiency. Collaborative works span advanced optical spectroscopy, materials synthesis, and lattice dynamics under excitation.
Scientific Awards:
- National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship
- 3M Graduate Research Fellowship
- International Institute for Nanotechnology Ryan Fellowship
