Alexander Tzalenchuk is a Professor of Physics at Royal Holloway, University of London, and an NPL Fellow in Solid State Quantum Technologies at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). He holds a PhD in Physics and Mathematics from the A V Shubnikov Institute of Crystallography, Russian Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on quantum metrology, superconducting quantum devices, graphene, and terahertz detectors.
He has over 30 years of experience in solid-state physics and nanotechnology, including work at Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden) and NPL. At NPL, he leads projects on quantum metrology, superconducting systems, and graphene applications. He is the Head of Science for the Quantum Technology Department at NPL and a co-investigator on EPSRC-funded projects like 'SquBa: Silencing the noise in quantum circuits.'
Teaching: He teaches 'Frontiers of Metrology' to third-year undergraduates at Royal Holloway. Awards: Received the Google Faculty Research Award (2020).
Key collaborations involve EU Graphene Flagship initiatives and international partnerships in quantum technologies. His work bridges fundamental research with industrial applications, emphasizing quantum standards and noise reduction in quantum devices.
