Andrew Casey is a Professor of Physics at Royal Holloway, University of London. He holds dual roles as a Research Fellow in the Department of Physics, focusing on Quantum Fluids and Solids and Bio-diagnostics. He leads the QUEST-DMC consortium, a quantum technology initiative funded by STFC, aimed at detecting dark matter using superfluid helium-3. His research also involves low-temperature physics, nanofluidics, and quantum sensor development.
Teaching-wise, he collaborates with the Institute of Physics to promote physics education through the Stimulating Physics Network and United Classroom initiatives, addressing gender imbalance in undergraduate physics via A-level teacher training and distance learning modules.
Key projects include the SquBa project (EPSRC-funded) to reduce noise in quantum circuits and the QUEST-DMC detector development (STFC-funded). His work spans 62 publications and 15 projects, with datasets focusing on superfluid phenomena and topological states. He supervises 4 research students and contributes to Royal Holloway's ultra-low temperature research group.
