Alexander Turner is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Manchester's Division of Population Health, Health Services Research & Primary Care (L5). He holds a PhD in Health Economics and has extensive academic achievements, including awards such as the University of Manchester PhD Graduation Prize and the Jon Stewart Prize for Econometrics. His research focuses on applying econometric techniques to evaluate healthcare systems, with a particular emphasis on organizational reforms, healthcare financing, and the long-term impacts of childhood well-being. Turner is also a Co-Director and Lecturer for the undergraduate Health Economics module ECON32202.
Education: BSc Economics (First Class, 2011), MSc Economics & Econometrics (Distinction, 2012), PhD in Health Economics (2016). His research projects include studies on Greater Manchester healthcare devolution, prenatal fasting effects, and Beijing district hospital pricing policies. He has contributed to 29 peer-reviewed publications and serves as a peer reviewer for journals like Journal of Health Economics and Social Science & Medicine.
Research Interests include health system performance evaluation, socioeconomic determinants of healthcare access, and the application of advanced econometric methods to public health challenges. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being (SDG 3) and quality education (SDG 4).
