Alexander T. Radosevich is a Professor of Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), leading the Radosevich Group. His research focuses on designing homogeneous catalysts and reagents using earth-abundant p-block elements, particularly phosphorus-based systems. He transitioned from Pennsylvania State University to MIT in 2016.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, University of California, Berkeley (2007) under Prof. F. Dean Toste
- B.S. in Chemistry, University of Notre Dame (2002) under Prof. O. G. Wiest
Research Interests: His group explores inorganic, organometallic, and organic chemistry, emphasizing catalytic methods for sustainable chemical processes. Key areas include phosphorus redox catalysis, biphilic organophosphorus compounds, and nontrigonal phosphorus geometries enabling unique reactivity.
Recent Articles Trends: Recent work highlights advancements in C–H cyanation, deoxyfluorination, reductive C–N coupling, and phosphorus-mediated hydride transfer. These studies emphasize green chemistry principles and catalyst design for challenging bond formations.
Awards:
- NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship (2007–2010) at MIT
- Tenured Professor at MIT (2021)
Advising & Labs:
- Current advisees: Ashton Davis, Roberto Herrera, Bora Kang, and others
- Alumni include faculty at SUNY Stony Brook (Quinton Bruch), Vassar (Myles Drance), and Wisconsin (Julian Cooper)
- Labs located in MIT rooms 6-427, 6-428, 6-431, 6-434
