Prof. Dr. Robert Wolf is a full Professor in the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Regensburg, Germany. He leads a dynamic research group focused on molecular inorganic and organometallic chemistry, with a strong emphasis on sustainable synthesis and catalysis.
His research spans several key areas: the activation and functionalization of white phosphorus (P4), the development of 3d transition metal photoredox catalysts, and the study of ion-pairing effects in low-valent transition metal hydrides. His group has pioneered novel synthetic routes to organophosphorus compounds and explored the reactivity of phosphatetrahedranes and phosphaorganometallic complexes.
The 15 most recent publications highlight a consistent focus on phosphorus chemistry, photocatalysis, and transition metal-mediated transformations. Key themes include sustainable P4 functionalization, photochemical C–H and C–P bond activation, and the synthesis of novel main group species. The use of cobalt, iron, and nickel complexes is prevalent, often in low oxidation states, and frequently involves ligand design and mechanistic studies.
Prof. Wolf is actively involved in major collaborative research initiatives, including the DFG Research Training Group 2620 "Ion Pairs in Molecular Reactivity" and the Collaborative Research Center 325 "Assembly-Controlled Photocatalysis." His group provides a vibrant environment for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, fostering interdisciplinary research at the intersection of inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry.
