Alexander Statsyuk

Dr. Alexander Statsyuk is an Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences. His interdisciplinary research bridges chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmacology to advance disease-specific therapeutics.

• Education: PhD in Organic Chemistry (University of Chicago), Diploma in Chemistry (Lomonosov Moscow State University)

Research Interests: Focus on covalent drug discovery, ubiquitin system pharmacology, ternary pharmacology, and targeted therapies for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Key methodologies include fragment-based drug design, antibody-drug conjugates, and natural product screening.

Scientific Contributions: Pioneered mechanism-based probes for ubiquitin ligases (UbFluor, UbMES) and developed strategies for ultra-selective drug targeting via disease-specific mutations and tissue-specific receptors. Collaborative work spans structural biology, enzymology, and translational pharmacokinetics.
