Alexander Sinelnikov

Dr. Alexander Sinelnikov is an Assistant Professor of Biology and Chair of Biological and Physical Sciences at Indiana Tech's College of Arts and Sciences. He serves as Program Lead for Forensic Science and teaches courses like Forensic DNA Analysis and Molecular Biology. With over 20 years in forensic science, his expertise includes DNA mixture deconvolution and DNA profiling from limited biological samples.

Education: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Notre Dame, M.S. in Microbiology from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Research focuses on forensic genetics, DNA profiling techniques, and evidence analysis. His work emphasizes optimizing materials and methods for extracting DNA from challenging samples like fingerprints and spermatozoa.

Publications span 2009–2020, addressing DNA evidence interpretation gaps, forensic chemistry advancements, and innovative techniques for sexual assault evidence analysis. He has held leadership roles at forensics labs, including Laboratory Director at Independent Forensics of Illinois.
