Alexander-Sergei Ramirez

Professor Alexander-Sergei Ramirez is a distinguished classical guitarist serving in the Guitar Department at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. Born into a family of artists in Lima, Peru, he has established an international career as both performer and educator since joining the faculty in 1997.

His research and performance interests center on classical guitar performance with specializations in Latin American guitar repertoire, Spanish guitar music, and historical guitar works. Ramirez has made significant contributions to musicology through his rediscovery and performance of previously unknown works by Peruvian composer Pedro Ximénez de Abrill, bringing important historical compositions to modern audiences.

His extensive discography reveals trends across multiple musical traditions, with recent recordings exploring multinational guitar repertoire spanning five continents as featured in his critically acclaimed 'Odyssey' album.
