Alexander Perez

Alexander Perez, MD, FACS is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at UTMB Health. He holds multiple leadership roles including Director of Surgical Simulation, Division Chief of Advanced Gastrointestinal and Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Vice Chair of Quality. His work focuses on improving surgical education, healthcare quality, and outcomes in gastrointestinal surgery. Perez leads the UTMB Medical Director of Value initiative and is a key contributor to the university's Life Span Health research pillar.

His research emphasizes surgical innovation, emergency care protocols, and the application of technology in medical training.
