Alexander Patzina

Dr. Alexander Patzina is an Assistant Professor (Akademischer Rat) at the Chair of Sociology, especially Social Inequality, at the University of Bamberg since April 2022. He also held a visiting professorship at Goethe University Frankfurt (Winter Semester 2024/25) and received a postdoctoral fellowship from the Daimler and Benz Foundation in 2024.

• Education: BA and M.Sc. in Social Economics from Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (2019 PhD)
• Previous Affiliation: Research Associate at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) (2014-2022)

His research focuses on social inequality in well-being, vaccination behavior, and educational decision-making across the life course. He employs longitudinal data and causal analysis to examine pandemic impacts, health disparities, and career transitions.

Recent projects include pandemic effects on mental health, gendered well-being impacts, and educational inequality in post-secondary transitions. He has secured funding from the DFG, Hans Böckler Foundation, and Daimler and Benz Foundation.
