Alexander O’Riordan is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Royal Roads University and a Research Associate at the University of Stellenbosch. With over two decades of experience in international development, he specializes in political economy analysis, country strategies, multi-donor initiatives, and development effectiveness. His work focuses on optimizing implementation efficiencies, reducing transaction costs, and analyzing donor allocation policies.

- Master of Social Science, University of KwaZulu-Natal (formerly Natal-Durban)
- Bachelor of Social Science, University of KwaZulu-Natal
Research Interests span political economy, public sector reform, fiscal space, and donor coordination. He has led applied political economy analyses for UNICEF, USAID, and the UK government, and worked with ministries of finance in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Kenya, Laos, and South Africa. His career includes roles with UNDP, EU delegations, and governance NGOs like Pact and IDASA.
