Alexander Motyl is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of History at Rutgers University. His research focuses on Soviet and post-Soviet politics, comparative politics, political theory and methodology, revolutions, nationalism, and empires. Recent scholarly contributions include work on decentering Eurasian and East European Studies.
He has been recognized with the prestigious Jan Karski Medal for his contributions to scholarship. Motyl’s expertise spans interdisciplinary approaches to understanding political dynamics in transitional states. His work often intersects with contemporary geopolitical issues, including analyses of revolutionary movements and imperial decline.
