Alexander McCormick

Alexander McCormick is an Instructor in the Department of Physics at University of South Florida, teaching astronomy and physics courses while leading initiatives to improve diversity in physics education.

Teaches courses including Stellar Astrophysics, Galaxies and Cosmology, Astrophysics Lab, and introductory physics with algebra/calculus. Developed astrophysics concentration requiring AST 4217, AST 4402, and AST 4721L.

Research examines galaxy evolution and interstellar medium dynamics, particularly dust/molecular material in galactic winds. Uses infrared observations to study astrophysical phenomena.

Advocates for increasing representation of underrepresented groups in physics and astronomy through pedagogical innovations and mentorship.
