Alexander Kruska

Dr. Alexander Kruska serves as a Lecturer and Coordinator for Political Science teaching in the teacher training program Politics and Society at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. Since 2018, he has led the Political Science department at the Nuremberg Campus with a focus on teacher training and education.

His educational background includes a PhD (Dr. phil.) from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg in 2017 with a dissertation on Karl Ludwig von Haller's Restoration writings, and a Magister degree in Political Science and History. He has held various research positions including work on the Gerlach Archive and as a doctoral candidate at the Chair of Political Science II.

Kruska's research focuses on Political Theory and Intellectual History, particularly examining the history of state foundation theories, state emergence and foundation, and the intellectual history of conservatism. His work also extends to Political History with a focus on institutional and constitutional history, especially in the 19th century German context.

His recent scholarly output demonstrates a concentrated exploration of 19th century German conservative thought, with particular emphasis on Karl Ludwig von Haller's political philosophy. His work examines organicist concepts of natural rule, perspectives on revolution, military dictatorship, and the relationship between restoration thought and early liberal political theory.

In teaching, Kruska provides foundational instruction across all three political science areas with 9 semester hours per week.
