Alexander Jaworski is the June G. Zimmerman Associate Professor of Brain Science at Brown University's Department of Neuroscience. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of axon guidance and neural circuit formation, with a particular emphasis on ALS, synaptogenesis, and developmental processes in the nervous system. He joined Brown's faculty in 2013.
Education:
- Master's in Biochemistry (Free University of Berlin)
- PhD in Developmental Genetics (New York University)
- Postdoctoral training at Genentech and The Rockefeller University
Research interests span neural development, axon guidance, molecular biology, and mouse genetics. The Jaworski Lab investigates cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying nervous system wiring, including synapse formation and circuit assembly. Key topics include embryology, genetics, and the molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases like ALS.
