Alexander Hellgardt

Prof. Dr. Alexander Hellgardt is a Professor and Chairholder of Civil Law, Corporate Law, and Fundamentals of Law at the University of Augsburg’s Faculty of Law. He holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School and has held academic positions at the Universities of Regensburg and Munich. His research focuses on civil law, corporate governance, financial market regulation, legal philosophy, and the intersection of private law with climate protection and sustainability.

Recent Contributions: His 2024/2025 publications address greenwashing liability, climate protection via contract law, and EU financial market reforms. He frequently speaks at conferences such as the Wiesbadener Compliance-Tag and Augsburger Rechtsgespräche.

Awards: 2009 Körber Foundation Study Prize; multiple fellowships including DAAD and Harvard Clubs Deutschland.
