Alexander Gilder

Dr. Alexander Gilder is Associate Professor of International Law and Security at the University of Reading School of Law, serving as Academic Lead and Deputy Director of Global Law at Reading. His expertise focuses on UN peacekeeping and human security in military operations.

Research examines stabilization mandates in UN operations, human security frameworks for NATO, and legal dimensions of peacekeeping. Developed analytical frameworks applied to missions in Mali (MINUSMA), CAR (MINUSCA) and South Sudan (UNMISS).

Publications critically analyze peacekeeping-counterterrorism intersections, NATO's human security doctrine, and protection of civilian mandates. Recent work emphasizes operational challenges in stabilization contexts and legal accountability frameworks.
