Dr. Alexa Dodge is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology at Saint Mary's University (Faculty of Arts). She holds a PhD in Legal Studies from Carleton University, alongside MA and BA degrees. Her research focuses on digital criminology, technology-facilitated violence, feminist criminology, criminal law, and restorative justice.
Dr. Dodge leads and collaborates on major research projects including SSHRC-funded studies on technology-facilitated gender-based violence and restorative justice approaches. She is affiliated with the Restorative Research, Innovation, & Education Lab. Her work emphasizes digital safety education, police responses to online sexual violence, and youth perspectives on digital harm.
Recent publications analyze legal frameworks for nonconsensual intimate images, cyber safety policies, and the role of digital evidence in criminal justice. Her articles highlight gaps in legal interpretations and advocate for technosocial solutions.
Teaching includes courses on Qualitative Research Methods and Digital Criminology. She has advised on national reports about cyber violence prevention and police practices. Current projects address digital safety curricula in schools and community-based restorative approaches.
