Alex Quinn is a Professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Dalhousie University's Faculty of Medicine. His research focuses on cardiovascular physiology, cardiac electrophysiology, and mechano-electric coupling, with a particular emphasis on arrhythmias and sinoatrial node dysfunction. Dr. Quinn holds a BSc from McGill University, MSc and PhD from Columbia University, and postdoctoral training at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London. He has received numerous awards, including the J.A.F. Stevenson Award and National New Investigator Award. His work integrates experimental and computational approaches to understand cardiac mechanisms, using zebrafish as a model system. He teaches advanced courses in cardiovascular physiology and contributes to biomedical engineering education. Recent research highlights include studies on mechano-arrhythmogenesis, genetic variants in AV node dysfunction, and optogenetic tools for cardiac pacing.
