Alex Mitchell is a Research Fellow (Statistician) at the University of York's York Trials Unit, specializing in statistical support for clinical trials since 2017. He holds an MSc in Statistics with Medical Applications (2017) from the University of Sheffield and an MSci in Mathematics & Physics (2016) from King's College London.
- Current projects include FARSTER-Care (accelerated cardiac rehab RCT), SCEPTRE (smoking cessation in mental health), and REDUCE (diabetic foot prevention)
- Previous work spans orthopedic fixation methods (ACTIVE), youth depression interventions (BAY & ComBAT), and post-surgical bandaging systems (KReBs)
His research focuses on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in public health, mental health, and surgical outcomes, with recent publications in BMJ Open, Public Health Research, and Bone & Joint Open. He serves on the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Research Committee.
