Alex Lenoble is an Assistant Professor of French at the University of South Florida's Department of World Languages. He joined the university in 2019 after completing his Ph.D. at Cornell University. His teaching focuses on Francophone literature and culture, French cinema, 20th- and 21st-century French literature, literary theory, and undergraduate language courses.
His research explores Francophone and Caribbean literatures (with a focus on Haiti), critical theory, postcolonial studies, queer and gender studies, and psychoanalysis—particularly trauma theory. He has published extensively on the work of Frankétienne in French and American academic journals. Currently, he is developing a book project titled How to Occupy the Real: Postcolonial Literatures beyond Representation, which examines how postcolonial literature addresses historical exclusion of subjectivities through experimental literary forms.
