Dr. Alex Holman is a Research Fellow at the WA Organic and Isotope Geochemistry Centre, Curtin University, within the School of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS). His roles include managing isotope ratio mass spectrometry (irMS) instruments and conducting molecular/isotopic analyses of fossil sites like the Rhynie Chert. He holds a PhD from Curtin University, focusing on the Paleoproterozoic 'Here’s Your Chance' deposit's organic geochemistry.
Research interests span organic geochemistry, isotope geochemistry, fossil preservation mechanisms, and environmental applications such as food provenancing via stable isotopes. Key projects include analyzing the Permian-Triassic extinction event, petroleum exploration in WA, Brazil, and China, and assessing impacts of emissions on rock art.
Publications span diverse topics including dinosaur diets, Devonian plant fossils, asteroid PAHs, and Eocene climate dynamics. Collaborations include industry, government, and international universities. Technical expertise includes pyrolysis, sulfur isotope analysis, and compound-specific isotope techniques.
