Alex Gimenez-Santana

Dr. Alex Gimenez-Santana is Assistant Professor of Professional Practice at Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice and Co-Executive Director of the Newark Public Safety Collaborative (NPSC). His research specializes in spatial analysis of crime, neighborhood effects, and GIS applications in public safety.

He developed the Data-Informed Community Engagement (DICE) model implemented in Newark, securing over $5M in funding including grants from Bureau of Justice Assistance and Prudential Foundation. His publications focus on risk terrain modeling in international contexts including Colombia and Spain.

Dr. Santana teaches crime mapping and comparative criminal justice, with professional experience consulting for World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank. His NPSC initiative coordinates community organizations, law enforcement, and developers for proactive crime prevention.
