معرفی
Alex Dugas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of the Pacific. He received his PhD from UC Berkeley in 2006 and a BS from Stanford University in 2000. His research focuses on the Representation Theory of Algebras, utilizing tools from category theory and homological algebra to explore connections with algebraic geometry, commutative algebra, and theoretical physics. His recent publications address topics such as silting theory, tilting mutation, and periodic resolutions in symmetric and cluster-tilted algebras.
Education:
- PhD, UC Berkeley (2006)
- BS, Stanford University (2000)
Research Interests: Dugas investigates the interplay between abstract algebraic structures and their concrete representations, particularly in the context of weakly symmetric algebras, stable categories, and Calabi-Yau dimensions. His work bridges representation theory with homological algebra, category theory, and combinatorics.
Teaching Philosophy: He emphasizes mathematical inquiry and problem-solving, encouraging students to engage with examples, patterns, and logical justification through interactive lectures and group work.
