Alessio M. Pacces

Alessio M. Pacces is a Professor of Law & Finance at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), holding dual appointments in the Amsterdam Law School and Amsterdam Business School. He is the Director of the Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics (ACLE), a Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), and a Fellow Academic Member of the European Banking Institute (EBI). His research focuses on sustainable corporate governance, control-enhancing mechanisms, Fintech, and financial regulation. Prior to academia, he worked at the Bank of Italy and the Italian Securities Authority (Consob).

Dr. Pacces holds a graduate degree in economics from LUISS Rome, an LL.M. in European Master in Law & Economics, and a PhD in Law & Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has held visiting positions at Berkeley, Columbia, Haifa, and LUISS Rome, and is currently an International Visiting Fellow at Stanford Law School’s Rock Center for Corporate Governance.

His recent publications analyze regulatory frameworks, EU financial regulations, and the interplay between technology (Fintech) and legal systems. He has spoken at institutions like the European Commission, OECD, IMF, and European Central Bank.

Professional engagements include directing ACLE, advising on corporate governance matters, and contributing to academic programs such as the European Master in Law & Economics. His work bridges law, economics, and finance to address contemporary challenges in corporate governance and financial stability.
