Alessio Borzì

Alessio Borzì is a Researcher in the Nonlinear Algebra group at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI MiS) in Leipzig, Germany, under the leadership of Bernd Sturmfels. He holds a PhD from the University of Warwick (2023), supervised by Diane Maclagan, following a Master’s and Bachelor’s from the University of Catania, where he was also part of the Scuola Superiore di Catania. His research focuses on Combinatorics, Algebraic Geometry, and Tropical Geometry, with particular emphasis on matroids, toric geometry, and their interactions with Commutative Algebra.
