Alessio Aghemo

Alessio Aghemo is a Full Professor of Gastroenterology at Humanitas University in Milan, Italy. He serves as Deputy Rector for Education, Head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, and Head of the Centre for the Study and Treatment of Metabolic Liver Diseases and Complications of Cirrhosis at Humanitas Research Hospital. His roles include leadership in academic governance, such as Vice President of the English-taught Medicine and Surgery Degree Program.

His work has led to approximately 350 publications, reflecting expertise in liver-related clinical and translational research.

He has held significant academic and professional roles, including membership in international scientific committees and editorial leadership at Liver International. Aghemo also contributes to institutional governance as Vice President of the English-taught Medicine and Surgery program and as Head of the Internal Medicine and Hepatology Unit at Humanitas Research Hospital.
