Prof. Dr. Alessia Dedual is a Professor and Chairholder of Private Law with a focus on the Law of Obligations, Comparative Law, and Law and Economics at the University of Zurich's Faculty of Law. Her office is located at Rämistrasse 74/55, RAI-F-161. She leads the Center for Regulation and Contract Law (CRCL), exploring how contract law can advance societal welfare goals such as sustainability and resource optimization through interdisciplinary research and empirical methods.
Research & Projects
Her research addresses abusive general terms and conditions (GTC), advocating for judicial pre-market review to protect consumers. She co-led the funded project Visualizing Legal Terms (CHF 40,000), creating a video glossary for Swiss Code of Obligations terminology. Her 2019 Mercator Award-winning dissertation, Validity-Preserving Reduction, redefined legal consequences for non-compliant GTCs.
