Alessandro Vinciarelli

Prof. Alessandro Vinciarelli is a Full Professor of Computational Social Intelligence at the University of Glasgow’s School of Computing Science and an Associate Academic at the Institute of Neuroscience and Psychology. His research focuses on Social Signal Processing, aiming to model nonverbal communication in human interactions to develop socially intelligent machines. Before joining Glasgow (2010), he was a PhD student and Senior Researcher at Idiap Research Institute (1999–2009) and a System Developer at Accenture. He has authored over 170 publications, led 15 national/international projects, and co-founded Klewel, a knowledge management company recognized with multiple awards. He chairs major conferences like IEEE Social Computing (2012) and ACM Multimodal Interaction (2017).
