Dr. Alessandro Morosin is an Assistant Professor of Sociology & Criminology at the University of La Verne, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences’ Sociology and Anthropology Department. His research focuses on environmental justice, indigenous rights, and resource extraction in Mexico, particularly in Oaxaca. He holds a PhD from UC Riverside and advanced degrees from UC Santa Barbara and Occidental College.
His work examines how marginalized communities resist corporate exploitation and state complicity through movements opposing mining and infrastructure projects. Recent grants include funding for participatory research with land defenders in Southern Mexico and a fellowship at the Randall Lewis Center. He has published on topics like ecocide, paramilitary repression, and post-disaster inequality in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes.
