Alessandro Montinaro is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Physics 'Ennio De Giorgi' of the University of Salento, located in Lecce, Italy. His research focuses on combinatorial geometry, permutation groups, design theory, cryptography, and coding theory. He has been affiliated with the University of Salento since 2008, following a PhD in Mathematics (2005) and a research grant period (2005-2008). He obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Full Professor in the sector 01/A2 (Algebra and Geometry).

- Bachelor's in Mathematics (2001), University of Salento, Thesis: '2-transitive orbits in finite projective planes.'
- PhD in Mathematics (2005), University of Salento, Thesis: 'The Bounded Cofman Problem.'
