Giorgio Metafune is a Full Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the Department of Mathematics and Physics 'Ennio De Giorgi' of the University of Salento. He has been affiliated with the University of Salento (formerly University of Lecce) since 2005, following academic roles at the University of Basilicata, Second University of Rome-Tor Vergata, and University of Calabria.
- Area of Expertise: Functional Analysis, Elliptic and Parabolic Partial Differential Equations
- Key Contributions: Research on Fréchet spaces, spectral theory for elliptic operators, coordination of the Lecce unit for the national PRIN project on Kolmogorov Equations (1990s–2010s)
He has held significant institutional roles, including Director of the Doctoral School (2009–2012) and Department Director (2012–2015). Currently, he teaches Real Analysis and Probability and Statistics, and actively contributes to academic governance committees.
