Alessandro De Francesco

Alessandro De Francesco is a poet, artist, and essayist currently serving as Artist in Residence at The European Graduate School since 2008. He has held academic and artistic teaching roles at institutions including École Normale Supérieure in Paris, University of Paris-Est Créteil, University of Paris-Sorbonne, University of Basel, École Normale Supérieure in Lyon, Basel Academy of Art & Design, Bern University of the Arts, Ecole de Recherche Graphique, and La Cambre Visual Arts in Brussels.

Research & Artistic Practice: Combines poetry, sound art, installation, digital writing, and page design under the umbrella of Language Art. His innovative "reading environments" and "augmented writing" explore digital voice processing and writing design software, positioning text as the sole medium in radical opposition to hyper-visual contemporary culture.

Publication Trends: Articles focus on 20th-21st century Western poetics, conceptual writing, transcription/translation of avant-garde works, and interdisciplinary critiques of technology's role in artistic practice.

Advising & Collaborations: Founded the Language Art Studio and directed poetry ateliers at ENS Paris. Collaborated with institutions like Centre d'études poétiques (Paris), Kunstmuseum Basel, and LUMA Foundation.
