Alessandra Recchia

Dr. Alessandra Recchia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, specializing in molecular biology and regenerative medicine. Her research focuses on viral vectors, genome editing technologies (CRISPR/Cas9, TALEN), and their therapeutic applications for genetic disorders including muscular dystrophy and retinal diseases.

She teaches advanced courses including Biomolecular and Genomic Methodologies, Viral Vectors and Genome Editing, and Experimental Models for Biomedical Research. Her laboratory investigates gene therapy approaches using engineered nucleases and stem cell technologies.

Research areas include: therapeutic genome editing for monogenic disorders, development of viral and non-viral delivery systems, molecular basis of inherited diseases, and preclinical studies of advanced therapies.
