Alesia Woszidlo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Kansas. Her research focuses on family communication, mental health, and relationship dynamics, particularly examining how family of origin influences communication patterns in romantic and familial relationships. She investigates the interplay between mental health issues (e.g., anxiety, depression) and communication processes (e.g., conflict management, coping strategies) on relationship quality. Her work has been published in journals such as Journal of Family Communication, Communication Monographs, and Family Relations. Woszidlo holds a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona.
Her research interests include gender roles in parenting, sibling relationships, workplace communication related to breastfeeding, and the role of technology in family interaction. She employs both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore how communication patterns contribute to individual and relational well-being. Woszidlo’s studies often address societal issues like postpartum depression, financial dependence in emerging adults, and the impact of social learning in parent-child relationships.
She has advised numerous graduate students in communication studies and has contributed to interdisciplinary projects on mindfulness in relationships, attachment theory, and conflict resolution. Woszidlo’s work bridges theoretical frameworks from communication studies, psychology, and sociology to address real-world relational challenges.
