Alesha Hatton

Alesha Hatton is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland. Her research spans statistical genetics and orthopedic outcomes, utilizing large-scale registry data and advanced statistical methodologies to investigate complex biological questions.

Dr. Hatton completed her PhD in systems genomics at the University of Queensland in 2024, focusing on quantitative genetics approaches to elucidate DNA methylation's role in complex trait variation. She holds a bachelor's degree in medical mathematics from the University of Wollongong (2016) and previously worked as a statistician at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute.

Her research interests include statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, DNA methylation, complex trait variation, and Mendelian randomization. In orthopedics, she specializes in analyzing joint replacement outcomes using Australian registry data. Her work bridges molecular genetics with clinical applications, demonstrating how genetic epidemiological methods can inform both basic science and clinical practice.

Dr. Hatton has published 29 works including 25 journal articles in high-impact journals such as Nature Communications and The American Journal of Human Genetics. Her recent publications show increasing integration of genetic epidemiology with orthopedic outcomes research, reflecting her unique interdisciplinary approach.

She is currently funded for 'Precision Brain Susceptibility Mapping for Large-Scale Neurogenetic Research' (2025-2026), indicating expansion into neurogenetics.
