Dr. Huanwei Wang is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB), The University of Queensland. He holds an adjunct role, focusing on genetic and genomic research. His PhD, completed in 2021 at the IMB, explored 'Understanding the genetic and environmental variations in human complex traits.'
Dr. Wang's research interests center on genetics, genomics, and their applications in understanding complex traits, including anthropometric traits, substance use disorders, and disease mechanisms. He utilizes advanced statistical and computational methods, such as genome-wide association studies (GWAS), polygenic scores, and epigenomic analyses, to uncover genetic influences on human health and disease. His work often leverages large datasets like the UK Biobank and Biobank Japan Project.
His contributions include studies on genotype-by-environment interactions, natural selection in human traits, and the development of methodologies to enhance genetic prediction accuracy. He has collaborated extensively with global researchers in epidemiology, molecular biology, and computational genetics.
Dr. Wang is affiliated with IMB’s research groups and contributes to interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of genetics, bioinformatics, and public health. His research aims to bridge genetic discoveries with clinical and population health outcomes.
