Alenoush Saroyan is a Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology at McGill University, and Director of the McGill University International Institute of Education (MIIE). She holds a Ph.D. from McGill University, an M.Ed. from Loyola University Chicago, and a B.A. from Pahlavi University. Her research focuses on improving teaching and learning in higher education, with specialties in academic development, faculty well-being, and quality assurance. She has authored numerous articles in journals like Higher Education and Medical Teacher, and co-edited influential volumes such as Rethinking Teaching in Higher Education.
Her work spans international collaborations with organizations like the OECD and World Bank, advising on quality assurance policies in countries like Egypt, Nepal, and Russia. Key research interests include academic leadership, medical education, and the role of technology in learning. She has presented globally, including keynote addresses at the Devising 21st Century Conference in Brazil and the OECD’s What Works Conference in Paris.
Dr. Saroyan’s current focus includes faculty stress reduction and evidence-based teaching practices. She is not currently taking new students but actively supervises research on academic development and higher education outcomes. She leads the Higher Education Research Group (HERG) and contributes to McGill’s educational initiatives, emphasizing pedagogical innovation and institutional quality.
