Dr. Alena Heinritz is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Comparative Literature, University of Innsbruck. She holds a PhD and has held postdoctoral fellowships in Prague and Bochum. Her roles include Erasmus+ subject coordinator and member of the East European Centre’s scientific advisory board. She specializes in comparative literature, post-communist narratives, and formalist literary studies.
Education: BA in European Literature and Russian Studies (Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz), MA in Comparative Literature (Mainz), postdoctoral research at Graz University. She has taught at Innsbruck and Graz, focusing on genre theory, medial practices, and post-communist literature.
Research focuses on post-communist narratives, literary poetics of labor, and formalist approaches. She leads projects like the TWF-funded 'Promethean Creation or Post-Promethean Agency' and co-edits volumes on comparative literature and digital capitalism. Her 2021 monograph Postkommunistische Schreibweisen explores post-communist novelistic forms.
Awards include the 2020 GEWI Dissertation Prize. She organizes international conferences on topics like housing histories, digital capitalism, and ecological narratives. Teaching includes courses on genre theory, medial entanglements, and post-digital literature.
Her work bridges literary analysis with cultural studies, emphasizing praxeological methods. She collaborates across institutions and has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on topics like maternal authorship, posthumanist agency, and Soviet literary memory.
